SAINT JOHN AIRPORT AND UCTE REACH COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
SAINT JOHN, NB – Saint John Airport Inc. is pleased to announce that a new collective bargaining agreement has been reached with the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE).
The Saint John Airport and Local 60615, which represents as many as 25 workers at YSJ, signed the collective agreement after nearly one year of negotiations.
This five-year agreement will be in effect retroactively from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023. It ensures that Saint John Airport’s unionized employees receive a new pension plan and wage increases over the next five years.
“I’m pleased that we have worked with the union to reach a fair agreement and I’d like to thank the negotiation teams on both sides for their diligent and respectful efforts during these negotiations,” said YSJ President and CEO, Derrick Stanford. “Every day we strive to exceed passenger expectations and to do that it takes great people. So I’m delighted that YSJ is the second airport in Canada to offer our unionized employees this progressive new pension plan.”
The Saint John Airport is committed to providing a positive and safe work environment with compensation packages equal to or better than other airports of its size.
