YSJ SETS NEW ALL-TIME PASSENGER RECORD IN 2018
SAINT JOHN, NB – Saint John Airport Inc. celebrates their best Passenger Traffic Results in the airport’s history.
The Saint John Airport continues to experience strong growth and is proud to announce another new all-time record for Total Passengers in 2018. “This past year, 282,217 passengers flew via the Saint John Airport,” said YSJ President and CEO Derrick Stanford. “That's a 7% increase over last year and the airport's second consecutive record-breaking year in passenger traffic results.”
Passenger growth is attributed to extra flights and boosted capacity by Air Canada and Porter Airlines, as well as significant investments to greatly enhance the airport facility and infrastructure.
In August 2018, construction began on several major airfield modernization and safety improvements. "Once construction is completed in December 2019, we’ll be in an enhanced position to realize further passenger growth,” Stanford said. "The Airfield Modernization Project comprises the complete rehabilitation of the airport’s two runways and has enabled us to make safety-related improvements that ensure we comply with the latest airport design standards."
