Holiday Travel Tips from the Saint John Airport
"The Saint John Airport is known for our friendly staff and fast check-ins but the next 10 days will be busier than normal as many people will be travelling through our airport this holiday season," says YSJ President and CEO Derrick Stanford. "So plan ahead and follow these four tips for a hassle-free experience."
1. CHECK YOUR FLIGHT AHEAD OF TIME
Whether you're flying or picking up family from the airport be sure to check in advance to see if the flight is on-time, delayed, or cancelled. For up-to-the-minute Arrivals and Departures at YSJ visit our website: www.saintjohnairport.com/flight-information/arrivalsdepartures. Or check your flight status at www.aircanada.ca, www.flyporter.com, or www.sunwing.ca.
2. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU CAN'T PACK IN YOUR LUGGAGE Understand the limits to checked baggage and rules for carry-ons. Travelers should pay particular attention to the regulations regarding liquids, aerosols and gels (sunscreen, hair gel, perfume, etc.). For information on prohibited items visit the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) website: http://www.catsa.gc.ca/whatcanIbring or call the CATSA toll-free number: 1-888-294-2202.
3. ARRIVE 90 MINUTES EARLY. Arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight. Then relax and enjoy a pre-flight glass of wine at our Connections Bistro or do some last-minute holiday shopping at the YSJ Market & Duty Free Shop.
4. DON’T TRAVEL WITH WRAPPED GIFTS Avoid travelling with wrapped gifts in case their contents need to be inspected. "If possible, wait to wrap your gifts at your final destination,” says Stanford. “Our screening officers don't want to unwrap your Aunt Sue's Christmas present."
The Saint John Airport wishes you and your family safe travels and a stress-free holiday season!
